Being first Sikh to...
[edit]Boasting about being first Sikh to hold the highest honor is actually defaming him and his religion. He was holding the highest post and honor in country because of his qualities and/or qualifications, not because he was a Sikh. Information moved to second paragraph. Did he make an attempt to protect Sikhs in the 1984 riots?
[edit]Did the President make any attempt to open his presidential mansion to protect the innocent Sikhs who were being targeted in the 1984 riots in Delhi? He could have used his authority and status to protect them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.205.245.242 (talk) 10:52, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Stub?
[edit]Isn't this indian president-related article a stub? shouldnt this article be give stub-status? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.12.114 (talk) 16:04, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
huh?
[edit]"Many people believe that he was chosen by Indira Gandhi only because she wanted to have her hold on the office of President as she was having her hold on the party."
Needs revision and attribution. 24.125.38.175 (talk) 04:50, 21 April 2010 (UTC) R.E.D.
Name
[edit]I see his second name is Zail. Is he half Muslim? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.147.224.225 (talk) 19:02, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- um, zail is his first name. Giani is just a title. Gman124 (talk) 17:11, 31 August 2011(UTC) His actual name was Jarnail Singh. The legend has it that when he was serving a prolonged jail tenure, he had forgotten his actual name and remembered the word " JAIL " only. Hence, Jail (or Zail) Singh

Apparent inconsistency?
[edit]The article says that he was imprisoned in 1947 and tortured "for 5 years" but also that he was offered the post of minister in 1949. How can both be true? KropotkinSchmopotkin (talk) 14:11, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

1. Well-written: | ||
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct. | Properly follows layout.
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline. | Try to cite references in a template, not manually.
| |
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose). | It would be better if 10th citation is not formatted in PDF.
| |
2c. it contains no original research.
2d. it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism. | No plagiarism as of Earwig's detector
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic. | In section Union Minister of Home Affairs (1980–82), Bhindranwale's release is properly mentioned (that should be summarised properly in lead section's 4th paragraph.)
| |
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
7. Overall assessment. | Congrats on being GA. Make sure it follows the GA Criterias afterwards. |
